Build Your Business for Clean Energy Opportunities in Massachusetts
BII’s GreenEdge Accelerator Program supports established small businesses to strengthen their operations, prepare for contracts, and pursue opportunities in the clean energy sector.
GreenEdge is a no-cost, hands-on business capacity program for owners who are ready to grow, improve systems, strengthen financial and operational readiness, and pursue clean energy contracts and projects with confidence.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Accepted businesses are paired with a business coach right away.
What Is GreenEdge?
BII’s GreenEdge Accelerator Program, funded by the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center, is designed for operating small businesses that want to enter or expand into clean energy-related work.
The program focuses on two priorities:
- Strengthening core business fundamentals, including operations, pricing, financial systems, and internal processes.
- Creating realistic pathways into clean energy opportunities through preparation, positioning, and readiness.
This is not technical training.
This is about helping your business get organized, prepared, and ready to compete.
Clean Energy Is Broader Than You Think
You do not need to already work in clean energy to apply.
Massachusetts’ clean energy economy is creating climate-critical opportunities for small businesses across sectors such as building electrification, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, insulation, energy efficiency retrofits, solar, lighting, weatherization, energy audits, high-performance buildings, and offshore wind support services.
If your business can support clean energy projects directly or indirectly, GreenEdge can help you prepare for that work.
Clean Energy Business Opportunities
Why Now
Massachusetts is making major investments in clean energy. These investments are creating growing demand for contractors, service providers, and small businesses that are ready to meet expectations and deliver quality work.
Many small businesses are being overlooked, not because they lack skill, but because they have not had access to the coaching, systems support, and preparation aligned with procurement and contracting requirements.
BII’s GreenEdge Accelerator Program exists to close that readiness gap.
Clean energy opportunities are expanding across sectors. Businesses that prepare now will be better positioned when contracting and procurement opportunities become available.
Waiting has a cost, especially as procurement and contracting requirements become more complex.
GreenEdge helps businesses prepare before opportunities pass.
Apply now to start working with a business coach.

Program Structure and Benefits
BII’s GreenEdge Accelerator Program is built around a three-way approach that helps established small businesses strengthen their operations and prepare for clean energy opportunities.
Coaching begins immediately upon acceptance and continues throughout the program.
1. One-on-One Business Coaching
Coaching helps business owners strengthen how their company runs, including operations, pricing, financial organization, and readiness for contracts and procurement.
2. Eight-Week Cohort Learning
The cohort brings business owners together for focused learning and peer exchange.
Sessions cover clean energy markets, procurement pathways, and what contractors, agencies, and partners expect from businesses entering or expanding in this sector.
3. Legal and Expert Support
Businesses receive legal support from experienced legal advisors to help review contracts, understand compliance requirements, and prepare the documentation needed to pursue clean energy opportunities with confidence.
The BII Advantage: Capital Readiness Pathway
GreenEdge is led by Boston Impact Initiative, an impact investor.
Some participants may be referred to BII’s Investment Team for a capital readiness review when appropriate. This is not guaranteed funding, but an opportunity for businesses that demonstrate the ability to take on larger contracts, manage growth responsibly, and sustain operations as they expand in the clean energy sector to explore potential financing options.
